Wow, I suck at posting.

Life is a crazy thing for me lately. From school assignments, to taking care of my high maintenance dog, to redoing my room...this blog has faded to the background, but no more! I will be trying to post more, and do videos of reviews on various things, mainly beauty products, are coming soon! I figure, it'll help with my presentation and business marketing skills, and I can make it really fun!
Thats the future, this is now. The current things that make my heart smile!

MY NEW ROOM COLOR
(that would be a snapshot of the color, & my lovely chandelier =])
It is the most wonderful shade of blue. Its bright and calming at the same time. Its perfect, thats the only way I can describe it. The best part? it was $12.86 at wal-mart! If you need a little something extra in your life, I would suggest painting your room. I am a lot more calm and I sleep alot better now that my room isn't stark white.

TARINA TARANTINO

She has been such an inspiration to me lately, and I feel as though she will be one of my main inspirations for many years to come. I love how she takes something she likes that day. Sometimes it's hello kitty. Sometimes its the sixties. Sometimes its tokyo. And she makes a wonderful piece of jewelry based upon that. She has made me consider jewelry design as a possibly course for my future. The part that doesn't make my heart smile, however, is the price of her jewelry. Dang =[

PASTEL ORANGE LIPS

This has been ongoing for quite sometime now, as many people know. I want to buy Limecrime's cosmopop SO BAD. And eventually, I will. Buut, after much searching, I have found a possible dupe. Actually, I searched for weeks for a dupe, and this is the only canidate... NYX (pronunced "nicks") round lipstick in "Orange Soda" at less than $5 a tube, its worth a try. Especially since limecrime is $16 a tube plus $5 shipping. Thats far too expensive for little ol' me!

PINK HAIR

As many of you know, I am typically not the person who generally likes pink. Hair color is one of my only exceptions. I think it is one of the most beautiful hair colors EVER. I want to dye my hair hot pink soo bad, but I am refraining for two reasons: 1) I need a job, and although most jobs in my area don't care about haircolor, I'm going to ask my employer before I dye it. and 2) Hot pink hair will not match my prom dress, and prom is coming up....so just, no.

Question: If you could dye your hair any color, what would it be?

My new Barry M (and stargazer) Lipsticks!

Today was my first day at school in over a week because of sickness, and yet all I could think of was when these were going to arrive. I was so excited to see them in the mail today. I would've had my skirts too if it weren't for my stupidity. But I'll speak of that later. For now, a review!

To start off with, I ordered two Barry M lipsticks and one Stargazer lipstick from Smallbaldman, an ebay store in the UK. (the names people come up with, haha) The Barry M Lipsticks were roughly $6.80, and the stargazer one was roughly $3.50. shipping was $7 (If you message the Ebayer you can get less expensive shipping, but I did not do that D=) so for 3 lipsticks from the UK, it was about $25.00.

Compared to my original plan of getting one lipstick from Limecrime for 21 dollars including shipping, I'd say I made a pretty good deal.

I ordered these bad boys on the 25th, they were shipped same day, and they took a week to arrive. Once again, this is overseas....so, not bad at all. In fact, thats AMAZING.

Well, I think I have babbled enough about where I bought them...now for the main attraction.

THE LIPSTICKS =D

These pictures are not flattering at all xD. But, thats not the point of them, so I don't care!
Moving on..

Barry M Lip "paint" in #147 Peachy Pink

All picture were taken with natural lighting on an overcast day, fyi.
I had seen different reviews on this lipstick, all very different, but I decided to go for it, and I am SO GLAD that I did. Its a matte finish, depending on the person that could be a good or a bad thing. For me, its very very good. Its an orangy coral color. If you have blue eyes this is a must! This lipstick is very opaque, but looking at the picture, I would say its a tiny bit..brighter? It just, makes for of a statement than the picture shows in my opinion.
Keeping it short and sweet, so..moving on!

Barry M Lip paint in #101 Marshmellow

The formulation of this is very similar to #147, but I do not have the same love for this one. I was expecting this to be a pale nude, just like my skin tone, because I wanted an alternative to putting foundation on my lips. This color just does not do that for me. It is more of a pinky nude then a true flesh color. Don't get me wrong, its a wonderful color, but it just...doesn't work. At least, by itself. I haven't lost all hope for it. It may make a good base for a lipgloss or something. One other thing I didn't like about it was that it highlighted the chapped part of my lips (cold washington will do that to you) But I'm not too worried about that because it may just inspire me to find a better moisterizing lip balm. Summary: I like it, I don't LOVE it.

Stargazer lipstick in #115

I bought this one because it is VERY much like Limecrimes D'lilac, and for such a risky color, I wanted to get something cheaper. At first, I was going to get Barry M's #129 palest lavender, but Some reviews said that it wasn't good, so I went with this one instead. I am so glad I did. This lipstick is AMAZING. I love the formula, its creamy and soft, but it doesn't feel like its going anywhere. In other words not too creamy like the Barry M 129. This lipstick makes me feel amazing. I was worried I would feel clownish, but I don't at all! The only worry I have is...will it make my yellow-y teeth stand out? I will be getting whitestrips..but still.
I love this lipstick....especially the price. 3.50...omnomnom.

As a whole, these lipsticks are amazing. The formula is great, the colors were fantastic. Even the packaging is super classy =]

Even if you don't like the colors I picked out, there are many MANY more to choose from. There is of course less of a selection at the ebay store since they don't carry EVERY color...But I'd say they carry roughly half of the colors.

But, you can always order from Barry M as well. I hear their eye dusts and nail paints are fantastic!I will be getting some from ebay....I am the ebay queen =3

I am not sure if stargazer ships internationally...sorry about that.

Anyways, I hope this is helpful to you!

Since I got these today, nail polishes are being pushed back...again.
I shall talk about those tomorrow.

Question: What are you "the queen" (or king) of?

My current favorite makeup products!

Well, on youtube there are many girls who talk about their favorite makeup products, and it inspired me to show you my favorite makeup products! There aren't that many, because. well...I don't have much makeup, and I have even less GOOD makeup.
So this shouldn't be too long. haha.
These are in no particular order

FACE

Mary Kay full coverage foundation in ivory 200

The consistancy of this foundation is AMAZING. its really creamy, it blends well, and its so light on your face. And at as little as 2.00 on ebay, its a total steal! It retails at 15.00 if you're wondering. The only con to this foundation is even the lightest shades are a bit too dark for my super pale skin(maybe I just bought the wrong one?) . But I mix it with a little of my Loreal true match foundation and it works out pretty well! The tube it comes in is really nice as well, and great for carrying around. Its kind of small, but don't be fooled, it lasts a longg time! (when mine was running out, I cut off the end and used it until it was GONE!)

Loreal True match Super blendable foundation porcelain w1

This is probably the ONLY makeup I have found at a good price (7.99 I think?) that matches my skintone. It is relativly thin in consistancy, but can be buildable if you own a foundation brush. If you use a brush, it will take a lot of blending or else it will crease. I prefer this foundation sheer anyways. It just makes me look fresh, and I love it.

Want to try: avon cream to powder foundation

EYES-MASCARAS

Estee Lauder Projectionist in 01 black.

My grandmother gets the minis of this mascara and gives them to my sister and I. and this is probably one of my current favorite everyday mascaras. It never clumps and its not too dramatic, but yet it lengthens and seperates. Its not really a thickening mascara. I don't know where you would get this, seeing as it is not on the website, but if you can get your hands on it, please do so =)

Maybelline COLOSSAL mascara.
This mascara is really good for a dramatic lash. its not so great for everyday because it does have a sort of...interesting smell to it, and it can clump at times. But, its good nonetheless. 7-8 dollars at drugstores.

Rimmel Glam eyes
LOVE THIS MASCARA. Rimmel never lets me down when it comes to mascara. The brush is amazing, and it makes the mascara very versitle. You can wear this mascara lightly or wear it thick. I unfortunatly lost mine so I don't currently have it. 6-8 dollars at drugstores.

Want to try: rimmel max flash volumizing mascara. It looks like it would be the better version of colossal.8-9 dollars at drugstores (I believe)

EYES-GLITTER

Medusas makeup eye dust in coral reef and ocean drive
These are fantastic. They go on really great and the colors I have as well as the colors on the website are amazing.
Ocean drive is a MUST HAVE color! its a iridescent light baby blue. 6.00 each (amazing price!)

nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil in #622 yellow
I don't wear this much because Im not a huge fan of yellow, but I love the consistancy of this, and it makes a great eyeshadow primer. I'm dying to get this in white.

la girl mega pearl eyeshadow in amaretto
this is probably my favorite eyeshadow of all time. Its a really pretty copper color that I sware would look amazing on anyone! the consistancy is really nice as well, its kind of..creamy? Very slightly, and its very shimmery, which I like. The only con about this eyeshadow is that it WILL break, but if you have an eyeshadow pot just put in there as a loose eyeshadow and you're all set! and at 4 bucks its even more amazing.

Lancome color design in fashion forward
I have no idea how I got my hands on such an expensive eyeshadow (I think my mom had it and didn't like it, so I took it) But anyway, this is an amazing shimmery light green color that looks AMAZING when put over turquoise eyeshadow. The texture is kind of...velvety and smooth. it goes on really smoothly, and kind of opaque. Its definatly best when put ofer a blue or darker green eyeshadow.

want to try-lime crime eye dust in dragonscales

LIPS
(I have 3 lippies on the way from the UK that I will be doing a review on, but for now I only have one lip product)

Medusas lipgloss in whispers
I love the colors in this, which is exactly why I bought it in the first place. In the tube, it looks like a really milky pinkish purple with a pinky purple iridescence, but on the lips it just shows up as a slight iridescence on your lips. I tend to wear this over a bit of foundation on my lips. it makes them a bit more pinky and really pretty. I really like the consistancy of this, its not super sticky, and it doesn't fall off right away. I am wanting to try this in gossip.

want to try: lime crime lipstick in cosmopop

Tomorrow I'll be doing my favorite nail polishes, so stay tuned!

Question: what's your favorite makeup item?

Friday, January 22, 2010

Colors are amazing.

Colors Colors, there is just never enough!
At school its all beige, the roads are all grey with beige or grey buildings.
Most everyones clothing and makeup these days is grey or beige.
Jeez, no wonder everyone is depressed! I am on a mission to make the world a more colorful and happy place. Its my new calling. And I'm starting with myself. I'm buying new clothes, and a few makeup items (which you will see soon!) and then with my murals! My house is going to be very colorful, too! Lavenders and bright blues will be seen alot in my home. And I'm so lucky to have a boyfriend that will just let me have my fun with it.

(If talking about home decor with my boyfriend of 2 months seems weird to you, keep in mind that I watch HGTV more than any other channel. haha)

So, recap. Coming up with week : Makeup reviews (new and old stuff!), showing off clothing items, and maybe a makeup tutorial. we'll see!

PS: My dear friend who passed, well... what would have been her 16th birthday was yesterday.

My weekly obcessions.

I feel it is very important to recognize the little things that make your heart smile, it keeps you up when you are down, and I feel that everyone needs a little "GLEE" in their life. These are the things that currently make my heart smile.

1) Doe Deere- Her blog (doedeereblogazine.com) inspires me to bring out my girly side, even though her idea of "girly" and mine are completely different. I would say I'm slightly more vintage and unique, where as she is more of the typical "little girl playing dress up" girly. I am dying to buy some of her makeup at limecrimemakeup.com as well!

2) lipstick in pale colors- Seeing the lipsticks at limecrimemakeup.com made me want some lipsticks soo bad! I plan on buying either D'lilac or cosmopop, even though they are a bit pricey. I'm not entirely sure which though! I hear that revlon and rimmel make amazing lipsticks too, and I'm dying to find a nice nude shade.

3) Vintage sofas and chairs- Tufted upholstery, velvet, stripes, the wonderful curves and details...whats not to love?

4) Tutu skirts- Vintage and girly all wrapped up into one, and with spring (and valentines day) coming up soon, its the perfect time to get one. I actually bought some supplies to make one. We'll see how that goes ;)

5) Heels-I have like, 2 pairs total. Both of which are black, and one pair is a 6 and a half inch heel! In other words...photoshoots only! I am looking for a pair to match my new betsey johnson dress, as well as some for everyday wear.

6) Pixie hoods- I think they are so unique. I mean, have you ever seen one of these before while out shopping? I haven't..only online. But there is something so regal about them. Like only royalty would wear something so fantastic. Perfect!

Question: What is your current obcession?

Its my birthday!

Now, I don't know about you, but for me, birthdays are probably a gajillion times for fun than christmas. This particular birthday was one of my best since my 10th birthday.
I woke up, got dressed, and started watching phineas and ferb. My plan for the day was that Brent was going to come for a bit to chill with my family and I, then we were going to head to his place to play Kingdom hearts. Don't laugh, we know we're nerds.
Well anyways, he shows up with roses (my favorite flower) and everyone was like "awwwwwwww!"
He told me he had a surprise for me too, which ended up being him taking me to Cristianos, an italian restraunt here in marysville.
So basically, I was spoiled rotten all day by my boyfriend. It, was, AWESOME. =3
other than the flowers and the food, I got many other cool things as well...

  1. African roses in Dark Red, pink, and creamsicle orange.
  2. Movies- Bye bye birdie from my mother, and S.Darko from my sister.
  3. Lavender polkadot pajama pants. Now, I'm usually not a fan of polkadots, but the color totally makes up for it.
  4. BETSEY JOHNSON DRESSS!!!! This was the only thing I wanted for my birthday, and my mama pulled through :D.
  5. Sketch pads and shading pencils galore! An artist can never have too many supplies.
  6. three cheese ravioli from cristianos. For the record, I have no idea if I'm spelling that correctly.
  7. (not pictured) an alarm clock. Its cool lookin', but the repetative ticking drives me crazy. We'll see how it works out though. As far as my granparents know, I love it ;)
  8. (not pictured) Cash flowwwww. 137.00. Which I will be saving up. and buying some Limecrime makeup. =)

I can't believe I'm 17 already. Its so surreal to me, because as far as imagination goes I'm probably about 4 years old, but when it comes to maturaty, I'm at least 50. xD.

well, its time to go to sleep. I have school tomorrow.

Question: What was the greatest birthday gift you ever recieved?

"Lets name the zones, the zones, the zones. Lets name the zones of the open seaaaaaaa!" -Finding Nemo
When my mother asked what I wanted to do for my birthday, it didn't take me long to think of the perfect place. The Aquarium. Mostly because one of my favorite animals lives there- the octopus. So today, We got up, got dressed, and headed to seattle.

The whole time I was wishing I had a better camera. But other than that (and the insane crowds) I had a really great time.

Seeing the Art institute wasn't too bad either. ;)

Seriously wants me to move out NOW =D

I have to go make dinner now. Olive gardens recipie for their fettecini alfredo. I'll post the recipie tomorrow =]. and then, I open presents. teehee.

Question: Where is your favorite place to go for your birthday?

-amelia.

PS: I <3 Brent.
